In the past few years we have all experienced the discrimination against Catholics. Late night comedians have obviously had an impact, so much so, that now even the White House seems to have abandoned American Principles in favor of making a joke of our faith. It does not surprise me to watch this President attempt to tear down our Catholic principles and values by imposing mandates on Catholic hospitals and institutions to provide “medical care” to women with birth control and the morning after pill. Not only is this not a ‘medical necessity’, but I believe it is the first step in building the bridge which will eventually mandate Catholic Hospitals and Institutions to perform abortions.
It’s not like me to write blog posts. As a matter of fact, I hope you will all bear with me as I write my very first ever, created by me, blog post! It’s true I have in the past made comments on other blogs, but now I can only say that I am upset enough to actually start my own.
It doesn’t seem fair to me that of all the issues plaguing our nation and our world today, the White House has chosen to stomp on our constitution and founding principals, in favor of acquiescing to those who will stop at nothing to preserve their right to abort babies. In my mind, as well I am sure, in the minds of many, especially Catholic women, it’s clear that the line has been crossed. I for one cannot sit back and watch Catholic women being put down as inconsequential antiques in the world of the “contemporary” woman. I denounce the title ’old fashioned’ simply because I am pro life (real freedom of choice to me means that I can choose to be pro-life if I want without having to be bullied by the so called ‘modern’ women who profess to speak for all of us).
The White House doesn’t get my vote to destroy our Constitution and it doesn’t get my vote to attempt to destroy religious freedom. It certainly doesn’t get my vote to throw away my rights to my religious beliefs or my personal beliefs. It frightens me to know that I actually have to stand up and fight for those rights now.
But today I am standing up in my way, in what I believe in – that Catholic women are ‘contemporary’, we are ‘modern’ and we have the right to say NO to anyone who thinks they can speak for us. I denounce the President’s interference with our religious beliefs (regardless of our private relationship with our faith and the laws of our church) and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and take a stand.
I hope you will stand along with me.
